If you've been following this series and taking action, you're roughly four weeks into your Amazon journey. Time for the most important question: are you making money?

Most new sellers can't answer this clearly. They know their revenue but not their profit. They see money coming in from Amazon but forget to subtract all the costs we covered in email 3.

Here's how to check:

Pull up your Amazon Seller Central dashboard. Look at your last 14 days. Now subtract:

Is the number positive? Congratulations, you're ahead of 60% of new sellers at the 30-day mark.

Is it negative? That's normal too. Here's the honest truth: most FBA businesses don't hit profitability until month 2 or 3. The first month is almost always an investment period where PPC spending is high and organic ranking hasn't kicked in yet.

If you're not profitable yet, focus on three things:

  1. Cut wasteful PPC. Check your search term report. Negate anything with 20+ clicks and zero sales.
  2. Optimize your listing. Better photos and copy improve conversion rate, which improves organic rank, which reduces PPC dependency.
  3. Know your break-even point. How many units per day do you need to sell at your current margins to cover all costs?

Run your numbers through our Break-Even Calculator to find your exact daily unit target.
