Jungle Scout vs SmartScout vs SellerApp (2026): prices and who each one fits
Two of the three charge the same $49 to get in. What separates them is whose question each one answers: what to sell, who you sell against, or how you advertise it.
- First product: Jungle Scout Starter, $29 a month billed annually, with a 7-day money-back guarantee.
- Brand team: SmartScout Essentials, $99 a month billed yearly, for brand, seller and Share of Voice data.
- No budget or agency: SellerApp, the only one with a $0 plan and a published agency price.
- Billing: paying month to month costs 69% more in year one at the entry tier of Jungle Scout and SmartScout.
How we built this page. We read each vendor’s published pricing page and plan documentation on 19 October 2026, checked each vendor’s site is live and still sells the product, and drew demand from the questions AI assistants cite BagEngine for. We did not buy these plans for this comparison; where a free plan or trial exists we say so, and prices are as published on the date shown.
Jungle Scout, SmartScout and SellerApp are the three Amazon research platforms most often weighed against each other by sellers moving past a free trial. Each one is built for a different buyer: Jungle Scout for sellers choosing and launching products, SmartScout for brand teams that need to see rival brands and sellers, and SellerApp for sellers and agencies that live inside advertising data. This page compares their published plans as read on 19 October 2026, shows what each tier unlocks, and ends in a pick for each kind of seller.
| Platform | Built for | Entry price | Top published plan | Free plan or trial |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Choosing and launching products | $29/mo annual, $49 monthly | $129/mo annual, $149 monthly | No trial; 7-day money-back guarantee | |
| Brand and seller intelligence | $29/mo yearly, $49 monthly | $239/mo yearly, $299 monthly | No trial; 7-day money-back guarantee | |
| Advertising data and agencies | $0 Freemium | Smart from $149/mo | Forever-free plan, no card |
Which one should you pick?
Pick Jungle Scout if you are choosing your first or next product and want a guided path from idea to launch, because its Starter plan is the cheapest way into a product database plus Opportunity Finder at $29 a month billed annually. Pick SmartScout if you run a brand and the question is who you are competing with, because its pricing page lists brand data on "all 500,000+ brands" and seller data on "all 2,000,000+ sellers, including buy box history". Pick SellerApp if you want to start for nothing or you manage advertising for several accounts, because it is the only one of the three with a forever-free plan and it publishes an agency price.
Pick Jungle Scout Starter
Because $29 a month billed annually buys the product database and Opportunity Finder, and the 7-day money-back guarantee lets you test the data on your own shortlist before you commit.
Pick SmartScout Essentials
Because $99 a month billed yearly opens the Brands, Sellers and Seller Map views, and the Share of Voice view answers "who is winning this search" directly.
Pick SellerApp Freemium
Because it is $0 with no credit card, includes "Product Research and Overview", and you only pay (Pro from $99 a month) once the data has earned a place in your week.
Pick SellerApp's agency pricing
Because it is the only published agency price of the three: a starting sum of $300 plus 0.5% to 2.5% of the Amazon ad spend you manage.

What does each platform cost per month, and what do the tiers unlock?
Jungle Scout and SmartScout charge the same $49 a month for their entry plans on monthly billing and the same $29 a month on annual billing, so the entry decision between them is about data, not price. The price gap opens one tier up: Jungle Scout's middle plan, Growth Accelerator, is $49 a month billed annually, while SmartScout's Essentials is $99. At the top, Jungle Scout's Brand Owner + CI is $129 a month billed annually and SmartScout's Business is $239.
Jungle Scout sells three Catalyst plans: Starter at $49 a month or $29 a month billed annually ($348 a year), Growth Accelerator at $79 or $49 ($588 a year), and Brand Owner + CI at $149 or $129 ($1,548 a year). Brand Owner + CI "Includes all Competitive Intelligence features". Extra seats are $49 a month per seat. Larger brands are directed to a Cobalt demo with no published price.
SmartScout sells Basic at $49 a month or $29 a month on yearly billing, Essentials at $119 or $99, and Business at $299 or $239, with Enterprise on custom pricing. Its AI Visibility Monitor, which "runs your prompts against ChatGPT multiple times a day", is included at 1, 10, 25 and 60 dashboards across those tiers.
SellerApp publishes a $0 Freemium plan with "No Credit Card required", a Pro plan that "starts with $99" a month, and a Smart plan that "starts with $149" a month, shown against a struck-through $250. Its FAQ says the annual plan saves 50%, without printing the annual figure, so this page does not calculate one.
Which has the better Amazon market data for brand teams?
SmartScout has the deeper brand-level view, and it says so in numbers: its pricing page promises snapshot access to "all 500,000+ brands" and "all 2,000,000+ sellers, including buy box history". It organises the market by Brands, Sellers, Products and more than 40,000 Subcategories, adds a Seller Map that places "Sellers by location", and a Share of Voice view that will "Reveal who is winning any search". For a brand team, that is the answer to the question a product database cannot answer: which companies own the shelf you want.
Jungle Scout's depth runs the other way, product first. Its plan table meters the tools a launching seller uses most: Opportunity Finder and the Product Database on 100 searches a month at the entry tier, the Sales Estimator (500 estimates a month at entry), Keyword Scout (50 searches a month at entry) and historical keyword data that grows from 1 month to 1 year as you move up the plans. Brand Owner + CI adds the Competitive Intelligence features for brands tracking rivals.
SellerApp sits closest to the advertising account. Its product menu leads with an "Amazon PPC Tool", described as a "Next-gen ad automation tool", next to Product Research, Keyword Explorer, a Keyword Ranking Tracker and a Profit Checker. A seller whose biggest monthly decision is bids and budgets, not product selection, will find SellerApp's layout closer to the work.
SmartScout's brand and seller maps vs Jungle Scout's product database: what is different?
A product database answers "what sells", and a brand map answers "who sells it". Jungle Scout's Product Database and Opportunity Finder filter Amazon's catalogue by demand, competition and price so a seller can find a product worth making. SmartScout's Brands, Sellers and Subcategories views group the same catalogue by owner, so a brand can see the companies it is up against, how many sellers share a listing, and where they are based.
The practical test is the question you ask on a Monday. A private-label seller deciding what to source next asks a product question, and Jungle Scout's database is built around it. A brand manager asked why sales dipped in a subcategory asks an ownership question, and SmartScout's Share of Voice and Ad Spy ("Any brand's ad playbook") are built around that one.
Where does SellerApp fit?
SellerApp fits two buyers the other two do not price for: the seller who wants to start at zero, and the agency. Freemium includes "Basic functionalities including Product Research and Overview", and paid plans start at $99 a month. For agencies, SellerApp publishes "a starting sum of $300 in addition to a percentage of your Amazon ad spend (ranging between 0.5% - 2.5%)". Neither Jungle Scout nor SmartScout prints an agency price on its plan page.
The trade-off is that SellerApp's paid prices are "starts with" figures, so the final number depends on configuration. Ask for the full quote in writing before you compare it with the flat Jungle Scout and SmartScout tiers.
What about Helium 10, DataHawk and SellerSprite?
Helium 10 is the broadest single toolkit in this category. Its Platinum plan is $129 a month or $99 a month billed annually, Diamond is $359 or $279, and Enterprise starts at $1,499 a month billed annually; tracked ASINs rise from 20 to 1,000 between Platinum and Diamond. Its tools menu lists Black Box ("Discover Profitable Products"), Cerebro ("Discover Competitor Keywords"), Magnet ("Find Keywords for Your Listings") and Listing Builder ("Create AI-Generated Product Listings"), which makes it the pick for a seller who wants research, keywords and listings in one login. Helium 10 plans and its free tier are listed here.
SellerSprite is the cheapest paid monthly entry in this comparison: Basic is $39 a month (list price $49), with Standard at $79, Advanced at $129 and VIP at $189, or $390, $790, $1,290 and $1,890 billed annually. It offers a "FREE 3-Day trial of Monthly Plan". DataHawk publishes no price: its page offers "Custom pricing available with annual plans tailored to your business", which places it with brand and agency teams that buy through a demo.
Free plans and trials: how can you try each before paying?
Only SellerApp has a free plan: Freemium is "$0" with "No Credit Card required". Jungle Scout states "we do not offer a free trial, we do offer a 7-day money back guarantee on our standard plans". SmartScout offers "Full access, 7-day Money-Back Guarantee". In both money-back cases you pay first and must ask for the refund inside seven days, so plan the week before you buy.
DAY 0 Write down the three products or niches you are deciding between.
Note your monthly budget for software: ______
DAY 1 Run each niche through the tool's product or niche search.
Record: estimated monthly sales, review counts of the top 10, price band.
DAY 2 Pull keyword data for each niche. Record the top 5 search terms.
DAY 3 Check competitor depth: how many brands and sellers share the niche?
(SmartScout: Brands and Sellers views. Jungle Scout: Product Database.)
DAY 4 Export what you need. Confirm your plan allows exports.
DAY 5 Compare the numbers with a second source (Helium 10 free plan,
SellerApp Freemium or your own Brand Analytics if you have it).
DAY 6 Decide: keep the plan, switch plan, or cancel.
DAY 7 If cancelling, request the refund inside the 7-day window
and keep the confirmation email. The Helium 10 free plan is also worth running alongside a paid trial as a second data source: its FAQ says "Access is limited with the Free plan", which is enough to sanity-check a sales estimate.
Who we have a relationship with
BagEngine has a commercial relationship with SellerSprite and may earn from links on this page. We earn a commission on Helium 10 through the link above. None of that changes a price, a position or a pick on this page: each verdict above follows from the published plan data in the table, and a vendor cannot pay to move it.
The bottom line
On price alone, Jungle Scout and SmartScout tie at the door: $29 a month billed annually, $49 month to month. Choose by the question you need answered. Jungle Scout answers "what should I sell", SmartScout answers "who am I selling against", and SellerApp answers "what are my ads doing" with a free plan to start. If you pay for either of the first two, buy annually only after the 7-day money-back week has proved the data on your own shortlist, because paying monthly adds 69% in year one.
